This was a special one – well all my weddings are special, but this one was kind of extra special, because the gift from Dani’s Uncles was ME! Well, my video really. What an incredible honor and gift! Dani’s uncle Craig is a dear friend of mine and the man responsible for MANY of the beautiful flowers you see in the weddings that I blog, not to mention the creator of every floral arrangement that I have ever brought to a bridal show in Kansas City! So Uncle Craig and his brother got together and surprised Dani and Jordan and their family with the gift of video to remember the wedding day sights, sounds and emotions in such a beautiful medium. So very sweet!
Dani and Jordan are parents to the sweet little boy Grant, who you will see in the video – they are an adorable family. I loved it when Grant hopped up to hand the ring pillow to his Mom and Dad after the ceremony started, and what a great little dancer he is! We had a beautiful summer day and my favorite combination, a simple small ceremony and big FUN party after. I live right down the street from Dani’s folks, so it was extra fun to see friends, neighbors and a couple of my former brides and grooms at the reception!
Thank you to all – and enjoy your sneak peek!

Well, we are ending the second week of the kids at school and I am SO HAPPY to start my wedding film blogging again with this beautiful piece! You may recognize the sneak peek from my website – it has been featured there for a bit. The entire film is just stunning! I was so lucky to get to attend Betsy and Mike’s rehearsal dinner, so we were able to include so many heartfelt toasts from family from that night into the short film. It was especially great for me b/c I filmed Betsy’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, so it was like visiting with old friends again! You will see all my favorites down in the details – from flowers, to photographer – it was a great night! Thank You Betsy and Mike for letting me help you preserve such a special day! Don’t forget to let the whole thing load – it is long, and will play much better if you give it a few minutes before you start watching. enjoy!

Oh, this is just pure fun.
I really love getting to go up to my kids’ school and do special little projects for them – this was NO exception! We created this fun little informative piece to help parents figure out how to navigate the pick up and drop-off line before and after school. Thank you to all the Moms, big brother, and my sweet husband Sam for walking so slooooowly in the blistering heat last week, and thank you to all the great kids for piling in the little wagons! Enjoy our little PSA if you didn’t get a chance to see it at Back to School Night tonite!

So, the kids have been in school now for a week 1/2 and I am back at it full steam! I have to say, it feels pretty good! I have this rockin video to share with you, a fantastic wedding – working on an amazing wedding this week and a sneak peek too! Lots to see!
I am excited about this piece. Mostly, because it is such a departure from my regular work and I had so much fun creating it! It is a nice mix of video and photos with an amazing energy that is truly part of the place! Since I have been spending so many mornings there I speak from experience. And brides, grooms, new moms and dads – if you are looking for the most amazing way to get in shape this fall – you will have to check this place out – just awesome!
(remember to let the bar load all the way across so it plays smoothly!)

It has been a busy summer of babies! This sweet guy came to visit me at my studio and was such a peaceful little one… well, we did have to work at it a little bit, but we got there! He has a big brother and sister who are so sweet and will be wonderful siblings for him! I look forward to coming to the house or park one day when he gets bigger to do the whole family playing together! Thanks for coming to the studio Beau!

Look at this sweet guy! Baby Seamus was just a couple weeks old when I came to visit him. I fell in love with his milky white skin and red hair – what a doll baby. He slept through most of our session and was such a good boy. I can’t wait to come back when he gets a bit bigger to photograph him with his puppy dog! You see Seamus will get to play with the most beautiful Mastiff when he gets to be a little bit bigger. Not yet tho, I think the slobber might overwhelm him! Thanks Seamus for letting me come play with you!

This past month has been a little tricky. You may have noticed that I haven’t posted a wedding film in a little bit. Those of you who have ever edited video footage know how time consuming it is – WAY off the charts! Well, I feel like I should explain why there hasn’t been much posted these last couple weeks. One of the hardest parts of owning my own business has been figuring out how to balance my family life with my work. We decided this summer to take the kids to the ocean for the first time, so we packed up the car and took an old-fashioned road trip to Florida in July. Yes, it was hot, but not worse than Kansas! After our trip we only had a few more weeks until school started, and I THOUGHT I would be able to work with the kids at home. That turned out to not be the case.
Normally, I would just stay up until the wee hours of the morning editing away, but this is the summer of my midlife crisis, I mean fitness! Preparing for this event required an amazing amount of training, all of which happened around 6am. No more midnight workshifts for me! The good news is that the kids went back to school this week and I am back in the editing chair working on the MOST beautiful wedding! You can see the beginning of it on my website. Stay tuned for it on the blog very soon! I plan on sticking with the fitness part of my life because, frankly, I just feel better, but my balance is starting to feel a little bit better now that I am editing video again!
So, it seems fitting on the eve of leaving for Chicagoland to participate in this Triathlon on Sunday, to share a few more images of the work that we are doing over at Bootcamp Fitness with Coach Rut. I have done bootcamps before and bounced around several gyms, but never anything like this! The combination of stretching and a## kicking work, then stretching again is amazing! It was hard to get going with it, but after a couple months, I have to say that I really crave it on the days I don’t make it in.

So here is a little warm-up for you….
then some a## kicking – I love Coach Rut’s demonstration in the air!
and we end with some deep stretching.
Here is a little break for the advanced class. Maybe if I work hard enough I will be as strong as these ladies. They are amazing!
I have to end with one of my favorite detail shots – we carried these balls while running up a STEEP hill the other morning. I still have 15 lbs to loose, and it was pretty humbling to think that I was struggling to run with my 15 lb ball up that hill. MOSTLY exciting to think of how great I will feel when that 15 lb ball is gone! Wish me luck this weekend!

This is the most amazing group of people I am so lucky to have found this summer. My friend Sharon (one of the trainers here at Bootcamp Fitness) and I were talking at the end of the school year just a few months ago about the triathlons we were planning on participating in this summer. It makes so much more sense for Sharon to do a triathlon, as she is a tremendous athlete. I had decided, rather impulsively, that I would go with some girlfriends to Chicago this summer and participate in my first race to celebrate my 40th birthday. Now, I am not an athlete, although I am pretty active and have run several 5Ks and bike fairly often, but to do a triathlon is kind of a big deal. So Sharon and I were talking, and she encouraged me to try her gym. One thing led to another, and I am completely hooked. I honestly think if I hadn’t work so hard with Coach Rut and Sharon these past few months I would be nowhere NEAR as ready to do this race next weekend. I won’t be setting any records, but barring any crazy situations, I feel pretty confident that I will finish the race, upright on my own accord.
. I might even do another one next year! Yes, I can talk big like that BEFORE the race. I think I said that after each of my babies too.
I did however stop having babies at two. Hopefully I can do more triatholons than babies. Mabye THAT is my new goal!
Anyhow, I am excited to help Coach Rut with his new website, you can see it HERE. We had a great photo session last week and I have many more images and a video to share that you will see soon, so check back on bootcampfitnesskc.com often! And sign up for a class while you are there – I promise you, you won’t regret it. You don’t have to be training for some crazy midlife crisis race.
So, thanks Coach Rut and Coach Sharon for your encouragement! See you tomorrow AM at 6:00!

Happy birthday Emma! What a sweet girl – and I am so lucky to have gotten to watch her grow up this year. From a tiny little bundle to this smiley big girl, Emma was one of my first baby planners! I got to snuggle with her as a newborn, see her grow into an adorable 6mo old baby and now watching her first steps. We captured some beautiful moments this year – thank you Emma for letting me help your family remember this first glorious year!

I spent a little time with Scotty and Tori at the park the other day and what a great brother and sister they are to each other! We had a great time at Loose Park and I really enjoyed both of them! We got some great images – I look forward to seeing you guys around the Village!
