I was going to post more of my own stuff this summer and I haven’t done as good of a job as I had hoped I would. Somehow, it just seems too indulgent, I always feel like if I am at the computer working it should be on my client work, not my own. But, a recent trip to my husband’s family farm resulted in some great images and my adorable family is just too great not to share! It is a beautiful place, and these images of our children enjoying it so deeply makes my heart happy. I hope you enjoy it too!
Here is sweet young one! Miss Abigail was an angel for me – we had some great waking time and she cooporated so well! What a sweet little girl! Look at those big beautiful eyes, and those lips! I am in love. We even were able to end our session with some sleepytime – thanks for a great morning Abigail!
It is so fun to watch these guys grow! Miss Lily is a little more than 6 months now and sitting up so nice! Big brother Jack is exploring and pretending and just having a great time being a little boy – it doesn’t get much better than that! We had a great walk the other day and got some great shots with both kids, some with Lily in her baptism outfit – look at those lips and eyes! Just stunning! Thanks guys for a fun morning! I am a little late in blogging this post – it has been a busy couple months to say the least! With all the weddings and portrait sessions as well as keeping up with my kids and dogs, I am running a little ragged! Luckily, the month of July I have a little break from weddings to catch up on my edits! LOTS of portrait sessions tho, so that is good! Remember if you have a little one you want to get in for a session, I am scheduled several weeks out, so don’t wait to call or email.
Back to my post: I was so very honored a couple weeks ago to be asked by the ladies of POSH: A Retreat for Women Filmmakers, to be a guest blogger! HERE is the article! I wrote about how I came into this business and how the addition of a studio space has helped my business grow. As many of you know, I have never really thought of myself as a businesswoman, I am an artist and came to this media from teaching. I have felt my way to establish a wonderful and quite successful business and am so proud of what I have accomplished with the support of my family and wonderful husband Sam. So here is to all the businesswomen out there that are “feeling their way” – keep it up ladies! We can do anything we set our minds to!
AND, only a few days left to sign up for POSH for you Women Filmmakers – there will be LOTS of movers and shakers hanging out on the boat! Don’t worry, I will bring the 100 SPF and floppy hat.
It is a busy week of babies around here! Avery is the sweet daughter of former bridal clients – you can see their wedding film here. They have been living away from Kansas City since they were married and I had the pleasure of seeing them at Avery’s Cousin’s wedding a few weeks ago. Miss Avery was a very sweet little flower girl! I was so happy to hear from them the other day when they called to say they were going to be in town and could I fit Avery into my shooting schedule! Absolutely! Miss A was perfect and we had a wonderful time playing – oh, those baby blues!
Thanks Avery – I look forward to seeing more of you in Kansas City!
What a sweet little one! We worked so hard to get Chloe to go to sleep for just a moment, but now after looking into those beautiful brown eyes, I am SO GLAD she stayed awake for us! What a doll-baby! These were all done in the studio this time, and that is really a nice alternative sometimes. Thank you Baby Chloe for a wonderful morning!
We rounded out our spring with TWO weddings the last week of June and what a way to end! Sharifa and Don’s wedding was so full of warmth and family and love – it was a joy to be a part of it. Working at the beautiful Loose Mansion with the wonderful Adrienne Maples and coordinated by the lovely ladies at You’re Invited – what a fun night! I am keeping the best part of their first dance for the final edit – but if you were there, you know what I am talking about – Boom, boom, boom. One of those weddings I could feel myself smiling all night!

What a beautiful new family! It was so great to be able to celebrate with you both and capture your wedding day – not to mention visit with your wonderful families! I had the pleasure of filming Lesley’s brother’s wedding a couple years ago and it was great to get to meet their new little guy!
Lesley and Matt’s wedding was filled with so many personal touches, from the movie posters in the theater hallways, the popcorn boxes that her Dad helped make, to the awesome musicians and bands that filled the Uptown with fantastic sounds, and of course wonderful food, and a VERY cool cake! Thank you both so much for letting me be a part of your wedding day – Please keep in touch!
I rounded out my June weddings with the most wonderful weekend of beautiful couples and families! The first of last weekends sneak peeks is here – what a beautiful couple, and OH their chemistry! From the moment that Matt set his eyes on Kristin neither of them stopped smiling! We loved just watching this couple love each other – pair that with a beautiful ceremony and fun reception and voila, my job is so easy! Thank you Kristin and Matt – I can’t wait to edit the rest of your wedding film!
